Antiparos

Antiparos (Oliaros in ancient times) is a small island located in the heart of the Cyclades islands complex in the South Aegean sea, southwest of the larger neighbouring island of Paros and about 98 km southeast of Greece’s capital, Athens. It is an island that has kept its traditional colour and still remains unspoiled by mass tourism.

The town of Antiparos is also known as “Kastro”, taking its name from the old Venetian castle located next to the town square, around which it grew. Shops with souvenirs, restaurants and bars are located along the pedestrian market street that starts from the port and leads to the town square.

Antiparos is surrounded by light blue, crystal clear, warm waters with sandy beaches and uninhabited islands with a long history and archaeological interest. Its prehistoric cave is located 8km away from Antiparos town on top of the hill Ai Giannis. Astonishing stalactites and stalagmites, and especially the magnificent 8 meter high altar, the ‘Agia Trapeza’ will give you the experience of a lifetime. A visit to the archeological site on the uninhabited island of Despotico, and the temple dedicated to the God Apollo discovered there, will transport you to another dimension and time. The tour around the island by boat is also highly recommended.
